I have been a music photographer since September 2017, when I took photos at a gig by the Kitty LaRoar Quartet at JazzUp, Club 85 in Hitchin. Until then I had been a full-time musician and music teacher, working as a head of department at a number of schools and at a London music conservatoire.
I initially studied at the Royal Academy of Music and later at the University of Hertfordshire, and in 2004 I was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. As a musician I commissioned and performed works by many composers and recorded several CDs.
I am married to a Church of England Vicar and we have four children. I support Watford, Barnet and Hertha Berlin football clubs and go to matches whenever possible. I am addicted to world cinema.
From 2017 I worked as a jazz and classical music photographer, taking photos at music venues in and around London, while continuing as a teacher and performer. I was the official photographer for the 2018 Swanage Jazz Festival and the 2018 and 2019 Herts Jazz Festivals.
Since September 2020 I have been working as a full-time music and portrait photographer, based in London. I am currently an official photographer at Spicejazz Soho.
